Successful campaign sees Foxham Gardens toilets re-open12.17.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 18th Jun 2009
Local residents and councillors have welcomed the re-opening of the public toilets in Foxham Gardens following a successful campaign on the issue by the Lib Dems. The toilets, which had been closed for some time, will now be open in time for the school holidays, so that local children who use the playground will now be able to use the toilets. The council will be looking at whether the toilets can be supervised in the future. There are also plans in the pipeline for a Volunteer Park Keeper scheme. Cllr Ursula Woolley, local councillor for Junction ward, commented: "It's great to see the toilet have re-opened after the Lib Dems campaigned to make this happen, but this is just the first stage. I know local parents won't be happy until we have the toilets supervised as well. "The Lib Dems will be continuing to call for the toilets to be supervised and for there to be further improvements to the playground so that local children have the best possible facilities."
