Lib Dems Cut the Ribbon at New Islington Museum

Councillor Ruth Polling and Infamous Bust of Lenin

Lib Dem Councillor Ruth Polling comes face-to-face with the infamous bust of Lenin. The Russian communist was given pride of place in Islington town hall when the borough was run by the 'loony left' Labour council.

Liberal Democrat culture chief Councillor Ruth Polling cut the ribbon at Islington's brand new museum this week. This new £1.2 million exhibition on St. John Street houses artifacts from Islington's history. Exhibits shed light on ordinary life in Islington in the past, and on the borough's history of radical politics.

Ruth said:

"I was proud that we're opening this fantastic new museum. This is a modern, brilliantly-designed exhibition, and a fantastic use of the space at Finsbury Library.

"I especially enjoyed looking at the collection of historical artifacts, particularly those from Islington during the war."

Islington Museum is below Finsbury Library at 245 St John Street. Opening hours are 10am-5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. Entry is free.
