Bridget Fox attacks Labour on rising greenhouse gas pollution11.05.20am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 4th Apr 2005 Liberal Democrat environmental campaigner Bridget Fox slammed the Labour Government for allowing the UK's greenhouse gas emissions to rise last year. Bridget said; "Labour claim to be a party that are serious about the environment, yet greenhouse gas emissions are higher now than they were in 1997. This is a shocking statistic that should shame Labour". The Liberal Democrats have emerged as the only mainstream political party to take the environment seriously, promising to tackle climate change by reducing pollution, congestion and boosting renewable energy. Liberal Democrats have taken the lead in Islington by introducing a green box recycling scheme, a car pooling system, and converting new street lights in Islington to run off electricity generated from renewable sources. Recycling has tripled since the Liberal Democrats took over Islington Council. Bridget added; "It has become clear that if you want an MP who take environmental concerns seriously and work hard for a better Islington then you should back my campaign for Islington".
