Bridget Fox and the Lib Dems want an end to unnecessary NHS red tape

Islington campaigner Bridget Fox has welcomed the announcement by Charles Kennedy of the Lib Dems health pledges.

A key part of the Liberal Democrat health manifesto is the announcement that they will scrap the current target culture that has been brought into the NHS by the Labour Government. By getting doctors to make decisions on medical grounds rather than to improve Government targets, diagnosis can be made more quickly.

The Liberal Democrats also pledged to improve hospital cleanliness, and free doctors and nurses from unnecessary red tape.

Bridget said; "Health care is a very big issue for people in Islington, and I am delighted at the measures which were announced. Here in Islington we have already been campaigning hard on issues such as breast cancer awareness and waiting times for GP appointments".

The newly announced measures compliment the existing Liberal Democrat policy on free personal care for our pensioners, ensuring that those who need long term treatment are not forced to sell their homes.
