Bridget hits out at more water chaos5.39.47pm GMT Fri 11th Mar 2005 Local campaigner Bridget Fox reacted angrily to news that many parts of Islington were facing yet more chaos at the hands of Thames Water. Many residents were left without water for several hours after a series of pipes burst around the borough on the same day that the water regulator Ofwat announced that water bills will be rising an average £29 (or 11.8%). Bridget said; "The amount of burst pipes we are getting in Islington is terrible. This highlights the amount of investment needed to bring our local pipes up to a suitable standard". The burst pipes come just over two months after residents and businesses in the Upper Street area had thousands of pounds worth of damaged caused again by a burst pipe. The affected areas are: Mackenzie Road,Westbourne Road,Papworth Gardens,Pritchard Court,Tealby Court,Soldene Court,Brammall Court, Watkinson Road, and Caledonian Road.
