Bridget condemns water chaos6.56.37pm GMT Wed 2nd Feb 2005 Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Bridget Fox has slammed Thames Water for the chaos that was caused in the Angel area by a burst water main on Tuesday (1st February). It is the second time in just over a year that this main has burst, causing misery to local residents, shop owners and commuters. Bridget said; "This situation is unacceptable and is just one of a catalogue of Thames Water failures. It is vital that Thames Water keep the community fully informed of what is going on, mend the damage, and compensate local residents and businesses quickly". The burst main comes in the same week that Lib Dem controlled Islington Council released a report on the quality of water services in Islington. The foreward to that report tells of an "astonishing failure of service" from Thames Water. The presence of several fire engines at Tuesday's scene shows again how important fire services in Islington are, and why Ken Livingstone's fire authority should not take away one of our fire engines.
