Islington's getting greener under the Liberal Democrats

The recent budget decision by the Liberal Democrat controlled Islington Council is also good news for the environmeny with an extra quarter of a million being spendt on making Islington greener and cleaner. Cllr George Allan, chair of the environment and conservation committee, announced an extra £250,000 tackling the problem of abandoned cars. Cllr Allan said: ?I am also delighted that we have an extra £250,000 for dealing with the increased cost of removing abandoned vehicles. We already remove 300 cars a month but we must do more.? ?For the first time in years we have a budget which accurately reflects the needs and the resources available. Under the Liberal Democrats the environment is no longer treated as a political football but as an essential service to make Islington better.?
