Laura welcomes new Get London Moving website12.00.00am GMT Tue 29th Jan 2002 Cllr Laura Willoughby has welcomed the launch of the new campaign website, Get London Moving - www.getlondonmoving.org The website is part of the Lib Dem campaign to improve transport in the capital - including stopping the Governmentís unpopular PPP plans, and improving public transport services such as buses. On the website the public can sign up to a petition against the Tube PPP plans, as well as see the latest stories about transport in London and sign up for more information. Cllr Willoughby said: ìThe Tube should be kept in public hands and the Governmentís unpopular PPP plans dropped. All the experts say it is the wrong system - it is only Gordon Brownís stubbornness which keeps it alive. ìIf we can get the Congestion Charging scheme right it will be a big help - but only if there is real improvement in public transport to give people an alternative to driving. ìBy signing this petition the public can say to the Government that what they are interested in is improvements in transport, not the Labour Governmentís latest ideological fashion for PPPs.î
