Saving You Money: Cllr. Foxsmith and Lib Dem MP Lynne Featherstone show how Liberal Democrats in Islington are determined to keep your council tax bill low.
With rising fuel and food prices hitting local people hard the Liberal Democrats on Islington Council are determined to keep Council Tax as low as possible.
Thanks to the Liberal Democrats, an average household in Islington pays £225 less than neighbouring Labour-run Haringey.
In a recent league table Liberal Democrat run Islington had one of the lowest Council Tax rates in London. Many Islington residents cannot forget the days when Labour ran the Council and Islington had the highest Council Tax in London with the Council recording a debt of almost £1billion.
Local Liberal Democrat Councillor Greg Foxsmith said: "With winter approaching and fuel and energy bills on the increase the Liberal Democrats in Islington are determined to keep Council Tax as low as possible. At the same time, we provide a better, more efficient service".
Tackling crime is one of the top priorities for the Liberal Democrat run Islington Council.
Thanks to the Lib Dems the Council has made an extra investment of £1.5 million which has meant the local Safer Neighbourhood Teams now have an additional 16 officers to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
Recent figures have shown that this extra investment by the Liberal Democrat Council is seeing real results with crime down 10% in the last year according to official figures.
Greg said: "I'm pleased that the extra funding the Lib Dem Council has given for local Safer Neighbourhood Teams seems to be having a real impact.
"We cannot and will not be complacent about tackling crime and anti-social behaviour. All of us must work together to make Islington safer."

Recently, the Liberal Democrats Shadow Home Secretary Chris Huhne announced new proposals to tackle youth crime by making young offenders face up to their crimes.
The Lib Dem proposals include creating a Youth Volunteer Force, establishing Community Justice Panels and having a PCSO in every Safer Neighbourhood Team dedicated to youth issues.
Local residents have praised the work of local Liberal Democrat Councillors in helping tackle the problem of yobbish behaviour in Elthorne Park and Sunnyside Gardens.
Liberal Democrat run Islington Council has given the Police extra powers to tackle the problem of people causing anti-social behaviour through excess drinking in the park.
Liberal Democrat Councillor Julia Williams said: "I'm really glad that the council has listened to the local residents and has agreed to get tough on threatening behaviour in our park.
"Local residents were absolutely right that this behaviour could not continue especially with children around. With the improvements being made to the football pitch and Peace Garden we need to make sure the park is safe for families and other users to use."
Kicking Off: Cllrs Fiona Dunlop, Greg Foxsmith, and Julia Williams at the brand new Elthorne Park astroturf pitch.
The Mayor of Islington has opened a brand new sports facility at Elthorne Park.
Local Hillrise councillors have been calling for new facilities at Elthorne for some time, and all three - Fiona Dunlop, Greg Foxsmith, and Julia Williams - came along to unveil the new third-generation top-quality astroturf football pitch. Islington's Liberal Democrat Council and Arsenal FC each gave £60,000 towards building a new artificial football pitch in the middle of Elthorne Park.
The pitches are open all day and every evening without having to book, except when Arsenal is running training sessions for local young people. Arsenal will be giving professional training at Elthorne as part of the Kickz project, which has been praised nationally for giving young people constructive activities and providing positive role models.
Local Councillor Greg Foxsmith, who relished the opportunity to demonstrate his "silky ball skills" on the new pitch, said: "This is a great new venue for the Arsenal-standard coaching that Kickz gives young people in our area, and a fantastic new sports facility for youngsters to hone their football skills. Hopefully Elthorne Park will produce the next Theo Walcott.
"It shows what the council can achieve when it works hand-in-hand with businesses and the local community. I'd really like to thank Arsenal FC and the Cruyff Foundation, as well as the Council, for giving us this brilliant new community facility."
Councillor Julia Williams added: "This investment into Elthorne Park is part of a programme of improvements to sports facilities and green spaces right across Islington in the run up to the Olympics in 2012. People have asked for well-maintained facilities that meet the needs of the community - so it's great that together with Arsenal, the Council has been able to deliver for our neighbourhood."
Hillrise councillors are campaigning to end child poverty in the UK.
3.9 million children (the highest in the industrialised world) are in poverty due to Labour's failed promises.
Fiona Dunlop said, "We are working with our MPs to hold the Government to account on this. We want to give all our young children a fair start in life."
