Cllrs Emily Fieran-Reed and Terry Stacy back the Time to Change campaign.
Liberal Democrat councillor Emily Fieran-Reed has won support from Islington Council for the national 'Time to Change' campaign to end mental health discrimination and tackle stigma.
Cllr Fieran-Reed's Town Hall campaign led to a motion being passed at the last Full Council meeting, and council leader Terry Stacy signed the council up to the campaign on Wednesday morning.
The Council's own HR department will now be trained specifically on supporting employees with mental health issues.
Emily said:
"Islington Council already takes mental health seriously, but I wanted to see a guarantee that it would do everything it can as an employer as well as a local authority. I'm delighted that the Council will be supporting 'Time to Change', and hope that all of Islington's businesses and employers will follow the council's lead."
