Bunhill councillors Jyoti Vaja and Ruth Polling with Council leader Terry Stacy at the new hall
Bunhill's Liberal Democrat councillors have welcomed the opening of 44 Percival Street- a modern, 100% social housing block on Percival Street. The ground floor of the building also houses a new 180m2 community centre for local people.
No building has stood on the site since 1943. But now a complex of 20 flats will full-height windows with amazing city views, rises seven stories to create a distinctive new landmark.
The council's planners worked with the architects to produce a fully accessible housing scheme which makes full use of morning and evening sunlight. The building is also very environmentally-friendly, with toilets that flush with rainwater, and solar panels.
There is also a local letting policy for flats, giving local people priority for the new homes.
