Bridget with Islington campaigners 'in the pink' for breast cancer awareness
Local campaigner and parliamentary candidate Bridget Fox has pledged her support for the campaign to increase Breast Cancer Awareness.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is organised each year by the Breast Cancer Care organisation. The month has seen publicity events to get people talking about breast cancer and the importance of regular checks and screening, as well as fundraising efforts across the country for breast cancer support helplines and medical research.
Bridget Fox, Islington South & Finsbury's Lib Dem shadow MP said:
"Cancer is one of Britain's biggest killers and breast cancer is now the most common cancer. This is a disease that has touched many local people's lives. It is vital that we all do our bit to raise awareness of this disease and get the message that regular checks and screening can save lives.
"This awareness campaign makes people remember that breast cancer can be a devastating disease. That is why it is so important that we raise the desperately needed cash for research and support for breast cancer patients.
"I am delighted to back this important campaign."
Someone is diagnosed every 11 minutes with breast cancer in the UK. 46,000 people are diagnosed every year in the UK with breast cancer - it is the most common cancer.
