Local councillors Jyoti Vaja and Ruth Polling are calling on the council to give residents the double yellow lines they have asked for.
Islington's border with the City is known for its night life and clubs, but parked cars blaring noisy music into the early hours of the morning are the last straw for local residents, who have called on the council to put down double yellow lines to keep the cars away at night. Local Liberal Democrat councillors have supported the call for double yellow lines, and are appealing for residents who have had a problem with noisy parked cars to make their voices heard.
Local councillor Jyoti Vaja said:
"Local residents have asked the council to paint double yellow lines on the roads, and we're supporting them. We know it's a lively area, and that's why people move here - but it's still a residential area and people need to sleep!
"Cars already can't park here during the day, but at night the clubs attract cars with their radios blaring at unsociable hours. The council is consulting businesses and residents over the change, so local people should get in touch if they want to add their names to our call for some peace and quiet."
