Lib Dem campaigners are demanding Boris act against pollution
Islington South & Finsbury candidate Bridget Fox, and Clerkenwell councillor Marisha Ray were on the streets demanding action for cleaner air this week.
The campaigners donned face masks as they rallied at Kings Cross to protest against the Mayor's plans to drop the next phase of London's Low Emission Zone (LEZ).
They were joined by cycling groups, environmentalists, and local parents, all calling for London Mayor Boris Johnson to clean up his act, and clean up our air.
Euston Road and Pentonville Road have some of the highest levels of dangerous air pollution in the country, leading to diseases such as asthma, cancer and heart disease. More than a thousand Londoners die early each year because of the effects of air pollution.
Islington Lib Dem campaigner Bridget Fox said "Dangerous pollution levels around Kings Cross are poisoning the air for local people, but Mayor Boris is turning his back on measures to tackle it."
Jo Shaw, Lib Dem parliamentary campaigner in Holborn & St Pancras, added "The Mayor should be protecting and improving our health, not undermining plans to make our air cleaner."
