Liberal Democrat Mayoral Candidate Brian Paddick and party leader Nick Clegg MP will be listening to Islington next week. They will be answering questions and hearing residents' concerns at an open public meeting on Tuesday.
When Nick Clegg was elected leader of the Liberal Democrats he spoke of creating a new politics, where politicians were open and accessible. He has been holding a series of 'town hall' style meetings across the country where leading Liberal Democrats put themselves up for scrutiny by local people.
On the 29th of April Nick Clegg and Brian Paddick will be answering questions in Islington. The event is open to the whole community, and people can ask whatever questions they have.
Nick Clegg MP said:
"The Liberal Democrats are committed to listening to the concerns of Londoners.
"I'm inviting everyone in Islington to come and ask us whatever questions they have. I want this to be a direct and frank conversation with people - with no spin, no hand-picked audiences, and no planted questions."
The event will be held at the Metropolitan University, Holloway Road, on Tuesday April 29th, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. As space is limited, anyone wanting to come and quiz Brian and Nick should reserve a place by emailing nclegg@libdems.org.uk.
Liberal Democrat Leader of Islington Council James Kempton said:
"It's great that Nick and Brian are coming back to Islington. The Liberal Democrats are serious about listening to people's concerns, from your local councillors to the highest levels of the party. I hope residents will take this chance to come and talk to their Mayoral candidate."
