London Mayoral candidate, Brian Paddick
Brian Paddick, newly-selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Mayor of London, was the guest speaker at Islington Liberal Democrats' AGM last week. Brian Paddick addressed local supporters in at Finsbury Town Hall, reminding them of his years in the borough as a police officer, working in Hornsey Road and living at the police flats in Canonbury Park South.
Mr Paddick, the former Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police said,
"I am enormously proud to be chosen as the Liberal Democrat candidate for London Mayor. For too long, Londoners have been denied a serious debate on the future of their city.
"Less crime, better transport, cleaner air and fewer Londoners living in poverty are all crucial in making sure that London remains one of the most exciting cities in the world.
"I strongly believe that the position of Mayor can be a powerful source for good. During the coming months, I will be explaining to people throughout London why the time has come for a change."
Islington South & Finsbury parliamentary candidate, Bridget Fox, said, "Brian Paddick is a great candidate to be Mayor of London. Brian knows Islington and is serious about London. He is the right man to serve all Islington's communities. Brian has the experience to deliver, unlike Boris, and he is committed to listening to Londoners, unlike Ken Livingstone."
