Liberal Democrat campaigner Bridget Fox has launched a new petition demanding an end to bendy buses in Islington, calling them 'crime scenes on wheels'.
This follows recent reports of rising crime on bendy buses, with figures obtained by London Liberal Democrats revealing that theft on London buses has gone up by over 18% in just one year.
The petition makes three demands
o No more bendy buses in Islington
o Bring back conductors on bendy buses
o Review existing bendy bus routes let's have modern double-deckers instead.
Bridget Fox, who last year won a National Transport Award for her campaigning, had her own purse stolen on a 73 bus last month.
Bridget says, 'Bendy buses are the worst, because the drivers cannot see everyone who boards the bus. They have three times the rate of fare evasion compared to other buses. And they're more dangerous for cyclists and other road users. Bendy buses are crime scenes on wheels it's time to say no more bendy buses in Islington.'
