Last night local Lib Dems were able to announce that they have fulfilled their promise to get a Town Centre Manager for Archway.
The announcement was made at North Area Committee that there would be funding in place to recruit the new manager in May 2007.
Town Centre Managers are already in place at Angel and Nags Head, where they help strengthen links between the community and traders, help develop the areas economy and promote and co-ordinate local activities. Both existing Town Centre managers have promoted schemes to cut down on crime in their areas.
Junction Councillor Stefan Kasprzyk said "We've been asking for this for a long time, and it is great to be able to keep our promise and secure the funding. Traders and local residents have asked for. Archway doesn't always get the attention that is given to Angel, getting our own Town Centre manager shows the council is taking the area seriously.
"I know that having a manger here will be a golden opportunity for local businesses. I'd love to see real co-ordinated action to cut down on crime that affects local businesses."
