Tollington Lib Dems Khalid Oumar, Hatty Richmond and David Tibbs are campaigning for a raft of improvements to Finsbury Park Station, including making the station safer.
Hatty Richmond says: "Safety at stations, especially at night time, is really important to local people. The Labour government have failed on this issue, totally missing their targets for making stations safer. The local Lib Dems are committed to making Finsbury Park Station safer for the residents of Tollington through measures such as better lighting under the bridges and better signing."
Khalid Oumar, who has been involved with the Finsbury Park Partnership, says: "The station really needs sprucing up. Many local people have mentioned problems with bins and ticket machines. We want to see new ticket machines and recycling bins on the station."
David Tibbs says: "Disabled access to the station is difficult at the moment, and we think people with difficulty getting around shouldn't be effectively barred from using public transport. We are campaigning to get step-free access to the platforms, which will also help families trying to travel with prams."
Khalid, Hatty and David are all standing for the Liberal Democrats in Tollington Ward in the local elections in May. Their campaign to improve Finsbury Park Station is part of ten pledges they have made to improve Tollington if they are elected:
1. Replace old streetlights across the ward to make it safer, including Corbyn street, Thorpedale Road, Hanley Road and Regina Road.
2. Improve the road surfaces thoughout the area including Tollington Way and Shaftesbury Road.
3. Campaign for Mosaic Homes to fix the entry phones and street lights in Cornwallis Square.
