New street lights will be introduced in roads across Canonbury this autumn. In 2002 Lib Dem Councillors, Barbara Smith, Lucy Watt and Jonathan Dearth pledged to replace all the poor quality street lights in Canonbury and this new wave of street lights is yet another sign of action from the local Lib Dems. By the autumn new street lights will have been installed in -
St Mary's Grove,
Cleveland Road
Morton Road,
Northchurch Road
Rotherfield Street
St Paul's Road
Canonbury Grove
Canonbury Park North
Canonbury Road
Canonbury Street
Douglas Road
Northampton Street
St Paul's Road
Alwyne Square
Prior Bolton Street
The Lib Dem Council's programme of replacing all poor quality street lighting in Islington has now completed over 200 streets in the past two years and last month the 3000th street light was fitted in Rotherfield Street in Canonbury.
Councillor Lucy Watt said: 'I am delighted that the street lights in this area have been improved it really makes the streets safer at night. We promised that we would deliver on this and we have. It's great news for all local residents and all those who use these roads.'
