A Council review of the Zone E CPZ in Highbury will create 49 new parking spaces for residents and 13 new 'shared use' flexible parking spaces for shoppers and businesses.
Local Lib Dem Councillor Terry Stacy says:
"This is excellent news for residents and shoppers alike. We are listening to local people to make parking easier in the area, and we will be consulting with residents and local businesses to make sure they are happy with the proposals. These changes will make parking for local people easier and more flexible."
The current 181 resident parking bays will be increased to 230, and the 4 pay and display and 3 business bays will be merged and expanded to create 13 new shared use bays that can be used by shoppers, businesses, and residents. In addition, two new powered two wheeler bays for motorcycles and mopeds will also be introduced that will include facilities so that riders can secure their vehicles. Depending on how many additional changes are made during consultation, the new bays could be in place as soon as September.
