Results of a residents survey show that the number of people who are happy with the council has risen 10% since last year.
Recent surveys on all council services have shown a general increase in satisfaction. Adults believe that education is getting better and people 71% of people feel they are kept well informed about what the council is doing.
Areas that scored particularly highly with residents include environmental services with two thirds of residents responding that they believe that the council is improving the local environment
Councillor Terry Stacy, Executive Member for Performance said
"We have worked really hard to improve performance over the last 5 years. We are a listening council and have made the changes many people wanted to see such as better recycling facilities, and cleaner streets.
"There are still things to be done, and we are working on little changes that will make a big impact, but the message from the results is clear - Islington is getting better."
The survey was carried out by TNS
? 57% of residents are satisfied with the way the council runs things, an increase of around 10% on the 2003/4 BVPI survey around two thirds (71%) say that the council keeps them well informed, an improvement of 26% from when the question was asked in the last ALG survey in 2001/2) satisfaction is high for key environmental services with around two thirds saying they are satisfied with refuse collection, street cleaning and street lighting more residents feel that education services have improved rather than got worse
