Bridget welcomes crack down on anti social behaviour

It's good news that Barnsbury Housing Association is cracking down on anti-social behaviour (Gazette, May 12)- and I completely agree that we also need more police officers in Barnsbury.
Labour have boasted about the extra police for Islington, but the truth is that they are only in half Islington's wards. Barnsbury, Canonbury and St Peters are among those still waiting for the long-promised 'Safer Neighbourhoods' teams. This is not the Borough Commander's fault; he can only provide the police he has money for.
Islington residents have now paid twice for the extra police - through taxes to Gordon Brown and to Ken Livingstone. We need our extra police now.
