Prime Minister Tony Blair has written to Islington Parking Services to congratulate them for achieving the Charter Mark Standard for Excellence in Customer service delivery. Tony Blair Wrote
"I am delighted to learn that your organisation has achieved the Charter Mark Standard for excellence in customer service delivery. Please pass on my congratulations to everyone involved - this is not a Standard that is easily achieved and is a tribute to your organisation.
"Your achievement clearly demonstrates that customers' needs and aspirations genuinely form the basis for the design and delivery of the services you provide."
Islington's Parking Services were awarded a Charter Mark for customer service after intensive inspections took place in March. Assessors visited Clifton Road Car Pound as well as two local parking shops.
The Assessors noted that:
Customers can easily access services via the phone, website, by email or in person A high level of consultation is taking place with many interested groups. There are a great deal of choices for users such as different vouchers and permits and numerous ways to contact the service. IT solutions are being sought to address issues as the business expands. Staff are aware of the need for efficiency and to deliver a value for money service. The service actively contributes to the wider community.
Leader of the Council Steve Hitchins said
"There is still more to do in parking but this is a recognition of the changes we have been making. Paring has to be a user friendly service: I don't want any one getting a parking ticket by accident, because they don't understand the system.
" We will continue to improve our parking service and will put pressure on our partners, NCP, to make the changes necessary to make this a first rate service."
