Lib Dem Campaign for Dedicated Policing in Highgate

Local Lib Dem Councillor Laura Willoughby has backed Lib Dem GLA member Lynn Featherstone's campaign to get dedicated policing for Highgate. The area lacks the dedicated policing that is available to other areas under the safer neighbourhoods scheme because it is split between three boroughs.
The campaign has already met with success as the Metropolitan Police Authority have now announced they will tackle the problem of neighbourhood policing in Highgate in light of the Lib Dem campaign.
Laura Willoughby said
"Crime is a real concern in Islington. Highgate is part of Islington and has as much need for a dedicated police force as any other area, but suffers because of its location.
"I am pleased that the police have taken up our concerns. It is common sense that police initiatives to tackle crime should concentrate on areas and communities rather than arbitrary boundaries."
