Islington Council is dedicating an extra £275,000 to improve services for people with Learning Disabilities. The extra money will enable the Council to offer residential and day care to more people. In addition, the criteria for evaluating what services people receive are being changed to focus more help to those with severe learning difficulties who need it most.
Cllr Meral Ece, Executive Member for Adult Social Services, says: "This extra money is excellent news, especially as this is a growth area where the number of people needing help is increasing. It will enable us to give a better provision of services that are vital in helping people affected by learning disabilities to live as full and independent a life as possible, and to make sure that the services are focused on the people who need them most."
