Bridget Fox has welcomed the belated admission by the Government that the long-delayed Northern Ticket Hall at Kings Cross will now get the go-ahead. Just last month, Bridget and fellow campaigners shamed the government by giving a birthday party for the suspended works - the 'hole that cost a mint'.
"I'm glad that the government has backed down, this is long overdue," said Bridget. "The Labour government has talked big about investing in rail, but in practice has left us for over a year with a multi-million pound hole in the ground. The delay has simply added costs, with contractors having to remobilise, rehire staff, and start again on work that could have been completed by now. It was always clear that the new ticket hall is not an optional extra, so why the dither and delay?"
