Local residents who use train services into the city have been given a boost. Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Bridget Fox and Islington Council successfully negotiated a later running service into Islington with private train operator West Anglia Great Northern (WAGN).
The WAGN line out of Moorgate that serves Old Street, Essex Road, Highbury and Islington, Drayton Park and Finsbury Park currently stops running at 8.30 pm. From June the service will run until 10 p.m. Late-working commuters and people going out for the evening will benefit.
Bridget Fox commented; "This is a very welcome move on the part of WAGN. An extended service will benefit a number of local residents. Better public transport is essential to allow people to live, work, shop and enjoy Islington."
