Lib Dem campaigner Laura Willoughby will be challenging the London Mayor face to face to do more to improve Finsbury Park tube station during his visit to the station tomorrow morning. She will be presenting the Mayor with a list of 10 key improvements which the Lib Dems are campaigning for which include:
Bringing forward the development of the station from 2009
Proper London Underground ticket services on both sides of the station
Electronic signs at the bus stops at the station so you know when the next bus is due
Sorting out the leaks at the WAGN side of the station to stop massive puddles building up
More and clearer signposts at all exits to help newcomers find the right entrances and exits
Pigeon proof the rail bridges and improve lighting
Laura Willoughby, Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Islington North said: "Finsbury Park station is one of the grottiest stations in Islington North and the results of our recent rail survey show that commuters are growing increasingly fed up with it! The Mayor's here to crow about the improvements made by both the council and TfL but we want to show him that there's still a lot more which needs to be done." Terry Stacy, GLA candidate for Islington adds: "Feedback from our rail survey was very clear; people are unhappy with the state of their stations, the endless delays, overcrowding and long queues at the ticket offices. Over two-thirds think their local rail service has got worse since the London Mayor was elected and that's something the Mayor should be ashamed of. It's time for the Mayor to buck up his act and get on with making desperately needed improvements to this and many other stations across Islington."
