Liberal Democrat-controlled Islington Council is celebrating again with partner Caxton Islington after winning its second award in a week. Caxton Islington saw off four other entries to be highly commended at last Thursday's (28 November) Working Well Together Awards. Jyoti Vaja, Lib Dem councillor and Executive member for housing and community safety received the accolade on behalf of the partnership, which was awarded for the Council's proactive commitment to health and safety in the borough. "The Council takes the health and safety of everyone who works for the Council very seriously. This is the second of two awards the Council has received in recent weeks recognising our achievements in this area, and the progress we have made in tackling the dangerous neglect in these areas caused by successive Labour administrations. Well done to everyone involved. "This award acknowledges our proactive approach to health and safety in Islington. It is testament to the hard work of everyone who has been involved in ensuring that Islington effectively safeguards the health and safety of both our, and our partners' employees."
