The Liberal Democrat group on Islington Council are sad to announce that Councillor Rose Wooding, Liberal Democrat member for Bunhill ward, passed away this week . Councillor Wooding's health had been deteriorating for some time. Rose had lived in Islington with her husband Fred Wooding for over thirty years. She had previously helped friends and neighbours on Peabody and was elected as a Liberal Democrat councillor in 1994. She was very active and well known within her ward. Her hard work and commitment to the local community was renowned. Most recently she had been leading campaigns such as saving the Old Street Post office. Her ward colleague and close friend, Councillor Joe Trotter said: "I am deeply shocked by this news. Rose was not just my ward colleague but also a close and long time friend. She worked very hard for our local community and was respected by many people. She will be greatly missed" Councillor Steve Hitchins, Leader of the Islington Liberal Democrat Group said: "This is a very sad day for us all. Rose was a well-loved and valued councillor. She was an asset to this borough and our party and will be missed by all of us." Funeral Details Wednesday 27 November at St Giles Church, Cripplegate at 12:00 - followed by burial at 1.45pm at Marylebone Cemetery.
