'One Islington' is an exciting new plan that will improve services, bring the Council back to up to date, and respond to the needs of today's modern society. One Islington will enable the Council to: ? move with the times and become more customer focused ? use E-Government to improve access to services ? support major regeneration projects, like the new Arsenal ground and Kings Cross, and help make the borough a very different place to what it is now ? modernise its services, such as creating a one-stop shop approach for all residents' queries, questions and complaints ? become the 'gateway' through which the public can access services ? work in partnership with other service providers to improve services The Leader of the Council, Steve Hitchins, presented the plan to the Overview and Scrutiny committee last night. The committee, which is made up of a number of Councillors from both parties, then spent time examining the report. The plan will now be presented to each of the next four Area Committee meetings, giving all councillors and members of the public the chance find out more about the plan, and to have their say over the future of Islington. Leader of the Council, Steve Hitchins said: "Our vision for Islington is the best way forward, and this committee thinks so too. It is a robust, achievable plan that will make Islington fit for the future. We have to get people involved in the changes, and want to give all councillors and members of the public the chance to have their say over the way this borough is run. "I would urge everyone out there who cares about the future of our borough to come along to their Area Committee meeting and find out what this is all about."
