Clare Gontier, who was a Labour Councillor in Islington from 1994-98, has joined the Liberal Democrats. Speaking today, Clare said: "I am very pleased to be joining the Liberal Democrats. I always got on well with some of the Lib Dems in Islington. "I still keep an eye on what's happening there, and it's obvious that my new colleagues are doing a great job, improving services to the people of Islington. If they have the opportunity for another four years I know they will continue to improve services, building on the strong start they have already made." Councillor Margot Dunn, Liberal Democrat, said "As a Councillor Clare worked tirelessly for the people of Islington - many people will remember with gratitude the work she did for them, especially on Housing matters. "Her endorsement means a lot to us. She is very welcome in the Liberal Democrats."
