On Iraq, Tony Blair and Iain Duncan Smith are on one side. The Liberal Democrats and the majority of the British people are on the other. The conditions we put on any military action are: * There must be genuine international agreement. * All possible peaceful means must be tried first. The inspectors must be given a chance. * Regime change must not in any circumstances be regarded as a legitimate objective. * We must not allow the Iraq issue to impede the search for a Middle East peace settlement or detract from the wider effort to combat terrorism. * Parliament must have the final say. There must be a vote ? not just consultation but a vote ? before any British troops are deployed.
