Keith Sharp and local Liberal Democrats have slammed the Labour Party for wasting taxpayers money trying to save its plans to privatise the London tube. A letter and booklet, outlining the so-called benefits of Labourís PPP scheme, has been distributed to thousands of councillors in London by the Ministry for London. Islington Lib Dem spokesperson, Keith Sharp, who is leading an anti tube-privatisation campaign, said: ëThis is a last-ditch propaganda effort to prop up Labourís privatisation plan for the tube. It is a complete waste of taxpayers money. ëThroughout Islington and across London, thousands of people have signed their support for keeping the tube in public hands. They want to avoid the disasters and tragedies that have brought British Rail to its knees since privatisation. ëLabour knows itís losing the debate. The London Mayor has taken them to court over this. And now, after months of refusing to reveal any details of their privatisation plans, Labour is desparately trying to spin a positive message. ëLondoners have every right to be angry at this misuse of their taxes and can express their feelings by not voting Labour come the General Electioní.
